Thursday morning - the 007 day (not!)
It's first seagull time on an autumn moning. I'm in McDonalds again, and the seagulls are marching round in the car park complaining that everybody is drinking coffee, and not throwing away their egg wraps. I got myself a black coffee, and the order number was "007", so I thought "Great, today is going to be as James Bond day". Well I got that wrong! Bitcoin is continuing its relentless rise, so my plan to claim payment in the dip isn't working. As I plan to use Bitcoin as a long term investment, I think I'll be better off just claiming the coins when I can, and ignoring the price movements. It will probably even out in the long run, and the 2x fork is arriving soon. I picked up Bitcoin Knife.com a few days ago, and I want to explain how to take advantage of the forks in the Bitcoin blockchain, and the way to profit from the new alts that are being created. This will be a good project for me, as I haven't worked out the safest way to do this yet.
The other disappointment was the expired name that I tried to buy yesterday. It was YachtsDirectory.com, and it was renewed by the current registrant in the last few hours of its life. It's probably a good thing though, as I've got too many yachting names at the moment. I need to put them in a collection, and try a bit of sales promotion. Maybe that will be a good candidate for server stats spamming.
I added the projects category to The Name Stag to provide me with a list of some of my current and past projects, and to encourage me to continue with them. One of these was As The Coconut Drops , and this was supposed to be a fun site about dropping domain names, and some political comments. I may take out the political stuff, and use another name/site for that. I still like the name Fox Foo - I think I'll try to use that to promote the concept of secondary domain names to promote commercial sites. It's something that a lot of domain name end users don't appreciate.
I noticed that there is a bit of activity surrounding various retrieval activities - data, email and payments. A quick whois check revealed that Retrieve Bitcoin.com and the plural were available, so I reg'd them both. This is quite a complex topic, and is obviously a concern for Bitcoin users. I'm not sure if I will have time to build a help site, so I may just put links to Bitcoin Talk and reddit on a page. The pair of names would make a great addition to the portfolio of a Bitcoin trading site, so I might just sell the names.

I’ve received the payment, and the transfer fee was less than $1, so I’m pleased with that. Actually Name Silo don’t charge a fee for Bitcoin payments, but I suspect that they buy the coins from an exchange if they need them, and the exchanges have a pretty wide spread in these times of volatility. I used XE to check the value of Bitcoin.
